Background
Brown, Black and Blues, was an artistic event held in the Hamilton Arts Center in Paterson NJ, in which we had the opportunity to work on like the year prior. They were looking for a logo design that would encompass the Jazz and Blues music genre, and how this art form can lead an individual out of dark times.
The Challenge
The client wanted a logo that was marketable, but very artistic in nature due to the type of event, they wanted the saxophone to be included in the logo, and they were hoping to see a hand attempting to reach the sax while another would hold it down, this presented a very interested challenge for a marketable logo that would not become so artistic that it would lose the appeal to the general population.
The Process
We maintained the sax as one of the most important assets during the course of the project, but tried different ways to portray the event in a more marketable manner, with a very clean and versatile logo that would stand out and look good anywhere you would put it, big or small.
Finalists
The client was very happy with the outcomes, and was undecided between what she had in mind, and we presented to her as an alternative with our creative direction, we were all collectively pleased and agreed to continue with the latter.
Final!
Final Thoughts
This was such a fun project to work on, the challenges were real, and its always difficult for a client to listen to your creative direction when they already have an idea of what they would like to see, but this client was one of the good ones, and was manageable and willing to be persuaded to a greater outcome for the entire event!
